January 2017 - Pick of the Month

It's 2017! I've been doing Pick of the Month for almost a year now, and I am so excited to read what my top music pics have been over the past year! As I start 2017 I am really looking forward to what this year has ahead in terms of music, and with so many great new releases already, I know that I won't be disappointed.

SONG: Text from Your Ex (feat. Tinashe) - Tinie Tempah
I am going to start this by being completely honest...I am a big Tinie Tempah fan, so arguably my views could be quite biased....However, whether I was a fan or not, I know that I would still love this song. Last week Tinie dropped two new songs, Text from Your Ex and Chasing Flies. Chasing Flies sounds a bit different to the music that Tinie usually releases, but he still managed to make it work! The only reason I prefer Text from Your Ex is because it's a lot catchier - a song that you can't help sing along to in the car! Both Tinie and Tinashe's voices also work really well together, making their vocals complement each other perfectly. I really hope that this is the first of many collaborations for Tinie and Tinashe!

ALBUM: The Fame Monster - Lady Gaga
This month I haven't really been listening to any new albums, instead I've been giving myself a blast from the past and listening to older albums, including my favourite album all time: The Fame Monster. This album has a special place in my heart as it makes me think of the times when this album would be all I listened to, subsequently making me realise how much of an inspiration Gaga is to me. The variety of songs on this album is incredible, from some of the most well known pop songs in the world (Poker Face, Just Dance and Bad Romance) to some of the slower and incredibly powerful songs, such as Speechless and Brown Eyes. This album to me is a piece of art, as every song tells a different story and has a different sound, demonstrating how much of a talented genius Gaga really is. 
Not only this, I have also been listening to this album much more because on Sunday (February 5th), Gaga is taking to the biggest stage in the world, the Super Bowl. This is the stage where Gaga really belongs after years of success and hard work, and I am beyond excited to see her performing some of her old hits once again!
