It’s the last Pick of the Month for 2016! I found this month’s picks to be quite hard because I’ve been listening to a mixture of different things, and picking a favourite was tough. However I’ve made up my mind and selected my best song and album for December!
SONG: Human – Rag’n’Bone Man I’m going to be honest, when I first heard this song I really wasn’t keen. I loved the lyrics and the setup of the song, but I just felt like something was missing from it. However, after Emily Middlemas covered this song on The X Factor, I started to notice the song on the radio more often rather than just ignoring it, and it began to grow on me. Now I can say that this is actually one of my favourite songs at the moment! I love the fact that Rag’n’Bone Man’s voice starts quite soft and becomes increasingly more powerful, and then ends the song with a softer tone again. For me this song stands out in the charts not only because of his beautiful unique voice, but there seems to be a lot of passion within this song, something that I find lacks in a lot of other songs in the charts. It was also announced recently that Rag’n’Bone Man is the 2017 Brits Critics Choice winner, showing that he has a very successful career ahead of him! Very well deserved! ALBUM: Starboy – The Weeknd I feel like The Weeknd features in the majority of my Pick of the Months, but I cant help but feature him when the main album I’ve been listening to throughout December is Starboy! Last month’s favourite song on my Pick of the Month post was Ordinary Life from the album, but I feel like each song is so incredible that the whole album needs a mention. From Party Monster to True Colours, each song is in a league of its own, and definitely The Weeknd’s best album yet! I will post all the songs mentioned on this post onto my Spotify playlist:
